MorningStar Farms recalls products due to possible foreign body contamination
MorningStar Farms is voluntarily recalling two varieties of products in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Costa Rica because of possible plastic pieces in the food, according to a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) internal recall message sent June 18.
DeCA has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, chief, public health division, DeCA Headquarters and Support Center at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products have been recalled:
- MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chick’n Nuggets 10.5 ounces: UPC: 000 28989 10110 5, Better If Used Before Dates: July 7 and 8, 2027
- Morning Star Farms Buffalo Chick’n Nuggets 6/10.5 ounces: UPC: 000 28989 10109 9, Better If Used Before Date: July 7 and 8, 2027
- MorningStar Farms Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties 8.0 ounces: UPC: 000 28989 10094 8, Better If Used Before Date: July 5, 6 and 7, 2027
- MorningStar Farms Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties 6/8.0 ounces: UPC: 000 28989 10093 1, Better If Used Before Date: July 5, 6 and 7, 2027
The recall involves approximately 21,114 cases of MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chick’n Nuggets and 17,218 cases of MorningStar Farms Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties.
No other MorningStar Farms brand products are affected by the recall.
Customers should return these products to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
